Scenes from Scotland | Loch Lomond & Loch Long

Back in June of last year, my family and I spent a glorious 5 days in rural Scotland in a house perched on the edge of Loch Lomond to celebrate my Dad’s 60th birthday with some family friends as well. The day we arrived was actually my birthday (my dad’s birthday is the day after mine) so S & I spent it in the hills ziplining (which was amazing!) and swimming in the loch before we met up with everyone else in the evening.

There were morning hikes, hot tub happy hours, lots of chat and food and drinks late into the evening and it was just lovely to have quality time together with my family and all my parent’s friends too. Scotland in June was beautiful and moody; green, rainy and full of wildflowers. We got up early to head out and hike into the nearby hills of Loch Long most days, met the others for pub lunches and then spent afternoons chatting, reading & napping before spending the evening in the garden or house eating more delicious food and playing charades (there were 16 of us I think at one point!).

It was relaxing and fun and a great way to celebrate my Dad turning 60. A few snaps below, if you’d like to see…

Mum & Dad on Dad’s 60th. We went on a little boat trip, walked through the forest in both sun and rain & had a fun pub lunch to celebrate him.

A hiking break.

Beautiful foxgloves in the hills on one of our morning hikes.

Swimming in Loch Lomond on my birthday, it was one of the only sunny warm days, so we just had to.
